Sorry about the confusion. To clarify, Yoselyn had her son, Jesus, in private Catholic education after his arrival in June 2012, a private education that she couldn't afford. This put significant financial strain on her in addition to the lost sublet in the Bronx. This is vital because this is where the resentment for Marina started to build up inside Yoselyn - over time contributing to the motive for the murders. Marina, her employer, had Lulu and Nessie, as Leo was too young, in public education.
I moved to the same Upper West Side neighborhood in 2014, and my two girls played at the playground at Lulu's school - P.S. 87.
I read somewhere that Marina had made a passing comment on the witness stand, asking "What's wrong with public education?" It later came out in the 2018 trial that one of the big reasons Yoselyn enrolled Jesus in private Catholic education was because if he'd gone to public school, they would have made him repeat a grade and that wasn't an option for either Yoselyn or her son. My view on it is this: Sometimes in life we take 2 steps back to go 3 steps forward. I would have told Jesus before leaving The Dominican Republic, "Hey, you want to live with me, that's awesome but you need to go to public school and will have to repeat a grade (not a big deal), and we may have to live with my sister for a while until I have enough money to get our own place." I would have been very clear with my child so that their expectations weren't dashed when they arrived.
The murders occurred 4 months after Jesus' arrival. And even the Krim's recognized the stress she was under when he arrived. But that wasn't the problem of The Krim's.
Yoselyn always had options. What she did to those beautiful children and their family was the actions of someone who is evil and later feigning insanity. Yoselyn and her family constantly solicit sympathy, which is evident in the comments made right after the crime, and during her 2018 trial. It's like The Stones' song - "Sympathy for the Devil."
Thanks so much for reading, and for your comment.
